Bufo Medicine (5-MeO-DMT)
What is Bufo?
Bufo is a sacred medicine derived from the secretion of the Bufo alvarius toad, native to the Sonoran Desert. The secretion contains 5-MeO-DMT, one of the most potent naturally occurring substances on Earth.
The experience is brief — most ceremonies last 15 to 30 minutes. But what happens in that time is often described as total: a momentary dissolution of the sense of a separate self. People return with something hard to put into words, but often described as a coming home. A direct encounter with something beneath the noise, the identity, the accumulated weight of living.
Anthony has sat with this medicine himself. It is one of the experiences that shaped his path as a facilitator — and why he holds it with such reverence. In ceremony with Anthony, you are never alone in this. The space is carefully prepared, and your safety is held completely.
How Bufo Works
When Bufo medicine is inhaled, the experience begins within seconds. The sense of self — the story, the identity, the inner critic — falls away. What remains is often described as pure awareness. Pure presence. A stillness that feels more real than the ordinary mind.
For most people, the active experience lasts 15 to 30 minutes. The integration — the meaning-making, the shifts in how you see yourself and the world — can unfold over weeks, months, or longer.
This medicine is always held in ceremony. That means intention, preparation, and care are present before a single breath is taken. Anthony does not approach this lightly. Every session begins with conversation, and every session is held with the full weight of his experience and attention.
What You May Experience
Dissolution: What the mind calls “you” — the inner voice, the story, the accumulated weight of living — temporarily falls away. What remains is often described as vast, still, and luminous. It is one of the most profound states the human system can enter.
Release: Grief, fear, the quiet ache of things left unprocessed — many people report that these simply don’t hold the same weight after ceremony. Not suppressed. Metabolized. Moved through.
Reconnection: After ceremony, many people describe a shift in how they relate to those around them — more open, more present, less defended. The walls we build without realizing it can soften.
Clarity: People often leave with a sense of knowing — of direction, of purpose, of what matters. Not as an idea, but as something felt in the body and carried forward into life.
Preparation for Bufo Ceremony:
Physical Preparation:
Fast for at least 4-6 hours before the ceremony; avoid heavy meals and alcohol the night before.
Hydrate throughout the day leading up to the ceremony.
Avoid stimulants such as caffeine or recreational drugs before the ceremony.
Mental & Emotional Preparation:
Set your intention for the ceremony. What are you seeking clarity on or healing for?
Meditate or practice mindfulness to ground yourself and clear any mental clutter.
Let go of expectations, and allow the experience to unfold organically.
